Maisha A.L Dang was the first born of Sheila & Dung Duc Dang. Even at an early age, she was strong headed, independent and driven. Growing up Maisha had a passion for cultural & visual arts, math, sports and acting. She trained in Kempo Jujutsu at a local recreation center and participated in a community theater nearby. During her teen years, she began modeling with Fashion Designer London West (Youth For Positive Change) while maintaining stellar grades as a student.
After graduating from the Cleveland School of Science, Maisha went on to study business at Cleveland State University. In 2001 Maisha received her BA in Accounting and Business Administration. Though she had done some work with Karamu House in Cleveland as an actress, she realized that New York held the greatest opportunities for advancement. On the morning of September 11, 2001 Maisha hopped in a car and headed to New York.
Getting wind of the unfolding tragedy Maisha turned around, waited for the smoke to clear, and moved to NYC a week later. Within a few months, she was holding down two jobs, taking classes at Columbia, and looking for a breaking in the acting world. Due to the vision of Anita Durst, the artistic director at Chashama (an experimental theater), Maisha became a P-Cult ensemble member, house manager, and promoter. Taking advantage of the resource in New York, She studied acting at HB Studio with Michael Beckett. Since being in New York City Maisha has stayed busy doing stage work, print ads, commercials, television and numerous other exciting projects
